“The Annual Exhibition of Macao Visual Arts 2025” call for submissions in the category of Chinese painting and calligraphy attracted 161 artists, who submitted a total of 161 works/sets. To ensure the fairness and professionalism of the selection process, we invited several esteemed professionals in Chinese painting and calligraphy from Mainland China with diverse backgrounds to serve as jury members. They included: Mr. Liu Yanhu, Researcher at the Calligraphy and Seal Engraving Institute, Chinese National Academy of Arts; Ms. Xu Dongqing, Researcher and Full-time Painter at the China National Academy of Painting, National First-Class Artist; Mr. Liang Xiaozhuang, Director of the China Calligraphers Association; Mr. Yang Dawei, Curator; and Mr. Wu Yi, Professor at the Chinese Central Academy of Fine Arts. In the end, 10 works/sets were selected to receive the Excellence Award and 51 works/sets were chosen for exhibition. The works encompass traditional art forms such as Chinese painting, calligraphy, and seal carving, as well as innovative interpretations of traditions using mixed media and installation art.
