This, the latest edition of the enormous Roberts tome, bears little resemblance to the previous six editions in that it has been completely rewritten. The 1296 pages include 80 brand-new, specially commissioned plates. No longer is it the chunky handbook with which so many of us are so familiar, but a large-format compendium of information that is the first and last word on what is known about our birds to date.
