The year 2017 has been proclaimed by the United Nations as the "International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development" to "promote understanding among all peoples, to raise awareness of the rich heritage of different civilizations and to further appreciate the values inherent to different cultures, thus contributing to strengthening peace in the world. 
It is in this context that the Museum of the City of Noumea offers to revisit the reports of New Caledonia and its inhabitants, to this sector of activity through an exhibition on holidays and tourism in New Caledonia.
