With the theme focusing on the Pearl River Delta area of Macau, Canton, and Hong Kong, this special exhibition celebrates more than two centuries of artistic and commercial exchange between China and the West. It features a wide spectrum of Asian export arts, a unique artistic style created by blending Chinese and Western artistic traditions and techniques. Included in this catalog are artworks range from daily utensils to pure decorative articles; from pictorial items: paintings, drawings, prints and maps, to 3-dimensioal objects: lacquer wares, silver wares, ivory products, porcelain and wood furniture. Examples are Thomas Daniell’s striking depiction of The Lianhua Pagoda, and paintings of the great Canton fire of 1882.
