During the civil war of the 1970s, pepper cultivation was abandoned. It slowly reborn from the 2000s with the return on their land families, from generations of pepper growers. The Kampot pepper is then again cultivated according to traditional ancestral methods. New business opportunities have enabled these families to revive plantations. New plantings have also been created recently.
