In 2015, The Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) organised Engineering Feats @ IES-SG50, a nationwide competition launched by DPM Teo Chee Hean in celebration of Singapore’s 50th anniversary in 2015 and IES’ Golden Jubilee in 2016. The top 50 winners emerged from 113 shortlisted entries to receive awards from Prime Minister Lee at the IES Golden Jubilee Dinner in July 2016. Engineering a First World was published to commemorate the 50 winning projects. These are projects deemed by members of the public to have made the greatest economic, infrastructural or societal impact to Singapore since 1965. Through this book, IES aims to share innovations and challenges behind the 50 engineering feats; provide insights into the engineers' personal journeys to instil pride in the profession; and recognise their efforts in Singapore's nation-building.
1. Engineering ? Singapore ? History. 2. Engineering ? Vocational guidance.
