Forensic Pathologists, in their three to four decades of professional career come across some rare events and cases. Attempted assassinations or assassinations of Heads of States are some such unique events. The assassination of Prime Minister S. W. R. D. Bandaranaike in 1959 and President Ranasinghe Premadasa in 1993 was two such unique historical events in Sri Lanka. The failed attempt of assassination of His Excellency the President J.R. Jayewardene in 1987 was an exceptional event because it was the first time in the world history that a Parliament Building was subjected to a Grenade Attack. From the first hour itself, author was involved in the investigation of Parliament grenade attack on 18thAugust 1987, that caused two fatalities.
