Oc Eo Culture is a cultural heritage of the Funan kingdom. The distribution range of this culture is widespread in the South and the northern part also extends to Cat Tien of Lam Dong province. Oc Eo may have been a busy port of the kingdom of Funan between the 2nd century BC and 12th centuries. Scholars use the term "Oc Eo Culture" to refer to the archaeological culture of the Mekong Delta region that is typified by the artifacts recovered at Oc Eo through archeological investigation. Nearly 70 years ago, archaeologists found traces of a rather brilliant civilization, contemporaneous with Dong Son culture at Oc Eo in Thoai Son district, An Giang province. Over nearly 70 years of discovery and research (from the first excavation in 1944 by French scholar Louis Malleret at Oc Eo), the heritage of this unique and famous culture has become more and more evident.
