Nigeria is both blessed and cursed by its natural resources: blessed because the federal government gained a huge source of income through oil mining; caused because of the social upheaval that oil creates. The littoral states where oil is found are fighting for sole ownership of the revenue, but are themselves torn apart by tribal differences; the federal government those do not seem to be investing in the environment upkeeping for those state. And all the while money seeps away to the west.
