"Lucy's People: An Ethiopian Memoir" is the true story of Mesfin: UN scholarship student, civil and construction engineer and survivor of the brutal communist Derg, 1974 to 1991. Born into a military family of patriots who resisted Mussolini’s 1935 invasion, he holds his head high throughout random arrest, torture and forcible military conscription. As a teenager, he serves in missions impossible at the Eritrean warfront. At home, he is breadwinner for a dozen; however, youth is in constant danger, so he flees to Kenya.
