The book, Crossing the Bridges, tells the story of Professor Mokwenye's life up to his 70th birthday. It chronicles his childhood, adolescence and adult lives lived through the various stages of his journey through life. From a humble rural pre-school life lived in Anchau-ta-Gabas (a small village about 25 kilometers off the Zaria- Jos road), to his primary school years in Zaria, the story also recounts Professor Mokwenye's secondary school experiences in Government College Ibadan and King's College Lagos. His adult life is captured through his days at Nigeria's premier university, the University of Ibadan as well as his academic sojourn at the University of Bordeaux in France, where he bagged his PhD degree. Apart from the five years spent at the Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin, Professor Mokwenye spent the rest of his working career at the great University of Benin, in the Department of Foreign Languages. While in Uniben, Professor Mokwenye had a successful working career and became a Professor of French in 1999. He contributed immensely to the growth of his Department in particular, his Faculty and the University at large. He was Head of his Department at different times, Assistant Dean and later, Dean of Faculty. Crossing the Bridges is an attempt by the Professor to testify to the Lord's goodness to him in his life as he crosses life's several bridges. The bridges were not too easy to cross, but thanks to the Almighty's support at every turn of his life, he has successfully crossed over to get to 70. The book is a testimony aimed at telling the world what the Lord has done for him. Prof. concludes his autobiography by making it crystal clear that "My future is in His hands, that He may do with me whatever He wills. In the meantime, I will not stop thanking and praising Him as I count my blessings and name them one after the other..."
