This book is a lucid chronicle of the evolution of the Udu Clan and lately, Kingdom and the Urhobo nation of Nigeria. It brings to the fore the role of Princes Onirhe and Ovo (Arhuanran, the giant prince of the Old Benin Empire) in the founding of Udu Clan in particular and the Urhobo nation in general. The book can be jocularly referred to as the book of revelation as it was written in response to the sinking remarks by numerous authors of Urhobo history that "not much is known about Udu Clan", whereas the progenitors of the clan were major players in the founding of the Urhobo nation. The book comprises twelve chapters and each deals vividly with various aspects of Udu Clan vis-a-vis the Urhobo nation. The areas covered include; The Urhobo Nation: An Introduction, Evolution of the Urhobo Nation, Overview of Udu Clan and its people, Emergence of Udu Kingdom, Pre- Monarchy Central Administration of Udu Land, Traditional Administrative System in Udu Land, Introduction of British Rule to Udu Land, Culture of the Udu People: Religion and Social Life, Western Education in Udu Land, Udu Village Groups, Udu and Her Neighbours; namely, Itsekiris, Ijaws and Urhobo of Warri and its environs, from a historical perspective. The book will be of interest to scholars of community history, cultural geography, colonial administration and lawyers, whose interest is Land Law, and to every Udu son and daughter, every Urhobo person and every Deltan.
