Ghulam Abbas is an Associate Professor at the University of Sialkot's Faculty of Textile and Fashion Design. He has also worked at GIFT University in Gujranwala and Superior University in Lahore. He has a diverse academic background, having received a BFA and MFA in Textile Design from the University of Peshawar, an MA (Hons.) in Visual Art from the National College of Arts in Lahore, and learned the traditional art of Khattati (calligraphy) during his high school years. His study interests include the history of fashion, the practice and history of calligraphy, Muslim devotional arts, and popular visual Islamic culture in South Asia, which he formalized in his PhD (2014) from Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, India. He previously published Tazias of Chiniot in 2007. He has also developed an interest in short story writing.
