This book WHILE DUST HOWLED is a historical narrative on the Nigerian Civil War. The author, Ifeanyi Sylvester Ekenta, was finishing secondary school in Kano, the hotbed of Northern Nigeria politics when the Nigerian crises took a turn for the worse and culminated in the Nigeria Biafra War. With the heightening of the crisis, Mr. Ekenta took refuge in Eastern Nigeria (Biafra). After the war, he took a degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and trained as a chartered accountant with Price Waterhouse (PWC).In this riveting book, Mr. Ekenta has recalled events and anecdotes fifty years old on this war and has documented them with remarkable vividness. This poignant account brings to light interesting details regarding some events that occurred during that war that had not previously been told until now. Some of the stories you will read include: Events that led to the two 1966 military coups. Riots in the North and exodus of Easterners East. Biafra’s dramatic incursion/sack from Mid-West. How Middle Belt led Nigeria during the war. Why Awolowo did not declare Oduduwa. Biafran students’ demo in London – June 2, 1968. British parliamentary debate on Nigeria – June 12, 1968. Biafra’s last parade. Dust does not howl, but it did, for four years, in Nigeria.
