"This piece of work is original not in the sense that it is the first of its kind on the subject since many have written on the Uganda crisis of 1966, but in the reinterpretation of facts. Contrary to conventional wisdom, facts do not speak for themselves; they have to be made to speak, and the author has done that. He differs from most previous authors in the sense that he has not dwelt so much on apportioning blame for the outbreak of the 1966 crisis to individual agents. Instead, he largely attributes the crisis to a structural problem-the Lost Counties issue-a landmine planted in the body politic of Uganda by the 1900 Uganda Agreement." Mwambutsya Ndebesa, Makerere University (History & Politics)
