The book espoused on the historical perspective; and the extant laws regulating the industry; it identified lapses hindering the much needed progress and advocated compliance with the legal norms. Its commentary on the innovative concept of internationalization of environmental litigation coupled with analysis of live cases and guidance is outstanding. The book further exposed the nonchalance attitude of the industry operators in curtailing oil spillage and proffering remediation steps; it tried to explain out the technicalities deployed by lawyers to defeat the claims of host communities based on applicability of the rule in Rylands v Fletcher and the otiose called third party interference on the pipelines.
