The participatory and observational research method is one of the powerful and worthwhile strategies for data gathering on humans and societies, be they developed and underdeveloped. The method is a byproduct of the ethnographic method that was invented by European social anthropologists in the 18th century to study non- literate societies at the advent of colonialism. Ethnographic method is about data gathering through active participation in, and observation of the round of life in of the so-called primitive societies. It is now universally accepted for the study of societies be they primitive or civilized.
