Odera Akang'o traces the life of the Luo chief who hailed from Gem in Siaya County. Born to a long line of chiefs, Odera Akang'o was Chief of Central Gem from 1909 to 1917, when he was imprisoned and later killed by the Colonial Government in 1918. Odera Akang'o is credited with the transformation of Gem society including the construction of roads, planting trees, agriculture, and religion.
