JP's paintings reflected his life experiences from his childhood in Sri Lanka to his student life in the Soviet Union and beyond. Some of his paintings depict the effects of socialism as well as global social and political events during his lifetime. In his later years and he died tragically in his early 50s - his subject matter changed from the turbulent exploration of youth to themes of love and compassion, acceptance of the world as it is, and peace.
