This collection contains both new and revisited poems. A good number of them are in English; the others in Filipino, and a few in Bikol—all of which bespeak of the places and spaces I have explored thus far. Included in my Bikol poems are 15 tiny pieces I call orawit—a distinct poetry form, my own innovation. Each orawit is composed of four lines of seven syllables each. They look like the Japanese haiku or the Philippines tanaga but each piece stands on its own. The revisited poems are marked with sadness and sorrow. Beware, they can inflict pain. We also have translations in Filipino of choice classic poems, which include those commonly introduced in high school English literature subjects.
