During that year, the young man met many Vietnamese students, lecturers and artists. Wandering on bicycles and trains, he explored Hanoi with them, visited neighboring provinces, attended traditional festivals and viewed village pagodas. Jean-Charles always carries two 24x46 cameras, one in black and white, the other in color. Forty years later, Jean-Charles Sarrazin returned with this book, a collection of photographic memories of Hanoi in the post-war era and began to enter the Doi Moi process. The realistic and emotional photos are reminiscent of a time that was both difficult and calm, chaotic and hopeful. Either way, it all became history, and history made us who we are today.
