Book 1 introduces a variety of forms of performance, including the singing of Bong roi, the Tuong song of Dia Nang and the Tuong Catholic ritual, thereby reflecting the connection between folk art and the religious life of the inhabitants of the South. These forms of performance are both ceremonial and everyday folk theater, expressing the beliefs, ethics and creative spirit of the people.
