In Buddhist art, horses appear as a means of conveying teachings, contributing to admonishing people to be benevolent and cultivate virtue. Meanwhile, from a Confucian perspective, horses are associated with order, etiquette and power. Analyses of the image of horses on the stone stele of the Temple of Literature-Quoc Tu Giam or on the Nine Peaks of the Nguyen Dynasty show that horses are not only a decorative element but an element in the system of expression of political, moral and cosmological thoughts of the feudal state. Another unique content of the book is the study of horse images in the space of village communal houses, temples and tombs. In Vietnamese village communal houses, horses are present in tableaux of activities, festivals, and ancestor worship, which are both close, everyday, and have sacred nuances.
