The silent identities carry a silent sadness, all of which create a tender portrait of a town that exists in the mind. Dinh Phuong does not follow a linear narrative style, but deploys a nonlinear narrative discourse, where memory operates like a labyrinth of reminiscences and trauma. The town becomes a strange place, an anomalous space, a memory transit station, where layers of time and space overlap, out of phase, disturbance, even suppression in an attempt to regain the right to speak for what has been suppressed.
