This is a global history of the Izon, Ijo or Ijaw people from their homelands in the Niger Delta, through Nigeria, the West and the Central African coastlands, and in the African diaspora into Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean. It is a preliminary study that raises questions and opens grounds for further enquiry. The issues of governance raised in it are urgently relevant for the stability of the Nigeria nation, and for African and other developing regions of the world.
