A social commentary. The setting is Tyberia, a contemporary African society. The main character, Tijan, courageously champions the cause against bribery and corrupt practices but is faced with difficult circumstances designed by the main antagonist, Sumanguru. A marital offer of one's daughter to a perfect stranger (for ulterior motives) is just one of the many such designs. Other themes include breach of confidence and social prejudice. The notes on dramatic construction and interpretation provide valuable reading for the young or aspiring student of drama. It's amusing; it's real! African social drama at its best! – The Spectator
