This book offers an overview of the Trade Union movement in Mauritius from its beginning in the 1930s to the present day. It also gives a brief description of the immense role played by several people like Adolphe de Plevitz, Manilal Doctor, Willie Moutou, who although were not trade unionists in the accepted sense of the term, yet they left no stone unturned to defend the cause of workers in their struggle. It also takes the reader along the tortuous path followed by the earlier leaders like Anquetil who is considered as the Father of Trade Union movement in Mauritius, and his successors, prominent among whom were Rozemont, Ramnarain, Jagdumbi and others who have dedicated their lives to the movement.
