JP Duminy (1897-1980) was the only university professor to play cricket for South Africa. He was also the first alumnus of UCT to become Vice Chancellor and the first non-American to be elected a First Vice President of Rotary International. In this book, his son Andrew writes about his life and his distinguished career.

Using diaries and private papers in the family's possession, he portryas his father as someone known for his good humour, clear-thinking and fair mindedness.
