Indigenous knowledge is a body of empirical knowledge handed down through generations of long-time inhabitants of a specific locale by cultural transmission, about the relationship of living being with each other and their environment. Indigenous knowledge systems have served as strong guiding force to simple tribal society since time immemorial. North East India having more than 200 tribes, besides offering a great cultural canvas, offers a great repository of indigenous knowledge that has sustained the test of time.
