The Cong people are one of ethnic minority groups among 54 ethnic groups living in Viet Nam. According to the 2011 population census, the Cong have a population of about 2000 residents concentrating in two northwest provinces - Lai Chau and Dien Bien. An ethnic minority group with a population of over 2000 people, the Cong can still retain many of their unique and rich cultural features reflecting the origin and customs of the nomads who used to be dwellers and masters of vast highlands.
