This book emerged because the author while studying M.Phil in Karnatak Music found that students and researchers in Karnatak Music did not have any proper Guide-lines. Research methods prescribed for subjects in science and literature are neither adequate nor appropriate for research in a melody-based creative art such as classical Music. There is a unique blend of aesthetic values plus mathematical rigour in karnatak Music.
