South Asia is the last region to wake up to the challenge of the new regionalism. It has been called ‘a region without regionalism’. Although the concept of regionalism in international politics has been used since the beginning of the 1960s, the ‘new regionalism’ is the second wave of regional cooperation which started in the 1980s south Asia has been a region of distrust and conflict penetrated by external powers which has been invited by the state of the region as part of their internal hostilities. Poor economic condition and domestic turmoil at the other remarkable features of south Asia. Having all such problem SAARC has managed to keep up its momentum like other regional organisations.
