In a classic coming-of-age tradition, driftwood: a tale of leftovers carefully unwraps intricate layers of love, abuse, hurt and loss from the eyes of a misunderstood teenager. Nanret who is abandoned at birth is plunged into unknown waters after her foster mother is attacked by marauding bandits. She is now twice denied of a mother’s love and finds herself drifting; tossed and roughed by currents of details she finds in her mother’s diaries. She begins a search for answers to questions burning her heart which lead her to a remand-home where she uncovers strange and horrific tales untold. Driftwood tells the story of hope and gives voice to many without a voice as Nanret liberates children from a bully and exposes a paedophile.
