The story of Malabar Mosque is a brief peek into the history of the pioneer Muslim community from Kerala, a minority within a minority. The sheer determination and vision of a few men from the Malabar Muslim Jamaath enabled the completion of the iconic mosque at Victoria Street (recognized as a heritage building) for the community long before the Mosque Building fund came into existence. The colourful personalities linked to the mosque have contributed to the political history of Singapore as well, but their stories have not been told in larger circles. This book provides original information gleaned from hundreds of newspaper articles, photographs and official records, but the story is told in an easy-to-read manner with many photographs on each page.
