Talalaksanam, an exhaustive Sanskrit treatise with a Telugu commentary, deals exclusively on Tala which is an important component of music. The Work is attributed to king Acyutaraya of the Vijayanagar empire who belonged to the sixteenth century. The author first defines the term tala, its derivation and greatness of the knowledge of tala. There is a discussion on tala being nitya and anitya.
