In the Middle Byzantine Period (843-1204), icons, murals and book illustrations were at the centre of religious life ; because of the preferences of those who built the churches of Cappadocia and of those who had them built, the reflection of the religious thoughts in that era and the traces of social life are all seen on the murals in these churches, the aforementioned works of art stand out as historical sources as well besides having great artistic value. During the making of this book, which is the product of long endeavour, the written and visual sources on the churches of Cappadocia were exploited and the murals that are in the scope of the book were observed and examine in situ. The book consists of eight chapters and at the end of the text there is a glossary, a bibliography, and an index. The religious scenes that are found in this work are supported with visuals with high resolution and these visuals are presented to the reader with various symbols and directions on them.
