Surajit Sinha, a person of rare academic calibre, was one such leading and extraordinary persona in anthropology and a brilliant scholar in the field of cultural anthropology. He glorified anthropology in the context of conceptual framework, emphasizing the fieldwork tradition. His idea on anthropology moved around the life and culture of the people and he tried to reconstruct the tribal traditions and institutional practices from genealogies, songs, myths, performances and other oral sources.
