The story of the life and times of a surgeon in war & peace. It is my story of a 25-year career as a surgeon in strife torn Sri Lanka. I have gone much beyond relating the experiences of a surgeon. This is by providing a deep insight into Sri Lankan society and some aspects of the North-East conflict which has now descended into a full-scale war. My experiences in treating battle casualties have been highlighted. I have also visited the so-called “Tiger territory” to obtain first hand impressions which are recorded. Great attention has been focused to an area of my specialty – treating mine injuries and control of trauma. This is why I believe my book would not only interest medical students and doctors but also other professionals form various walks of life.
