When drafting this book, | was like someone whose house was on fire, whose family members were living in that house including his/her mother, father, spouse and siblings with no fire extinguishers nearby. At the same time, family members who are inside the house are unaware of the fire incidents. And the people around the neighbourhoods are unable to see the burning houses. So, the combination of my house is on fire, my people being unaware inside the house, the lack of fire extinguisher and the neighbourhood being unable to see the burning house necessitated me to write up this book entitled “The Silent Gun”. Since people are unable to see and hear the problem in the Horn of Africa-the predominant Somali dwelling territories, I wanted to manifest the magnitude of the problem through extensive literature review, interview key informants and my own observations and life experiences. The book contains real stories, case studies and research findings from Somalia and around the world.
