Stepping out of the Valley begins by echoing the concerns for climate change, its effects on farmers, and some contributions to help eradicate them. The earth can exist without people, but people cannot exist without the earth. The play also looks at the cultural aspects of life: food, clothes, musical instruments, festivals, tropical trees like the baobab and dikta, and the indigenous names of settlements. Stepping out of the Valley concludes with the challenges of handling money, housing, and space for children, garages etc.
