Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) is an area where not much has been covered especially in Sub-Saharan Africa. Professionals in the field rely greatly on the literature and standards developed in the temperate regions of the world, whose climate and culture are significantly different from those in Sub-Saharan Africa. So, a book on this topic, with special emphasis on Sub-Saharan Africa, at this time when climate change is biting harder, is most relevant. The book discusses four main IEQ parameters that influence occupants' comfort (thermal and visual comfort, acoustic and indoor air qualities) in four chapters sequentially. The book treats methods of physical measurement and survey of internal and external physical comfort variables (air and radiant temperatures, air velocity, relative humidity, background noise, sound pressure level, horizontal and vertical illumination level, carbon dioxide concentration and particulate matter) and also examines some typical instruments that are used for the measurement of these variables.
