OLUMO: Shield in the Marvel Land, is a chronicle history play about the adventures of the Egba people aftermath 7 year-long Owu war, the play relates the physical, economic and spiritual significance of the Olumo Rock, and how the people of Egba come to dwell under it. OLUMQ presents Lamodi, Sodeke, Lunloye, Agbo, Somoye, Ogunbona and other notable Egba war lords in attempts to free their people from the adversities in the refugee camp of Maye and the Qyo-ljebu-Ife allied forces in Eba dan (Ibadan). Lamodi and Sodeke invoke the spirit of Egba's foremost freedom fighter, Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, and become extra fortified enough to rise against these oppressors. After years of continuous unbearable aggressions, repressions, injustices, sexual molestations, kidnappings and trafficking of Egba women and children, as well as severe sufferings under this yoke, Egba strategises on how to peacefully break out of these shackles, unfortunately, what is supposed to be a civil break-up degenerates into a fatal war which claims the life of General Lamodi, his wife and only son. Owing to this bitter development, Seriki Sodeke, his lieutenant, takes over leadership in the principle of military necessity, with full determination, he wrathfully resists assailing Mayc in a very brutal battle and emerges decisively victorious. Consequent of this victory for Egba, Sodeke leads his people to a new settlement, Oko Adagba (now Abcokuta), where Ifa oracle predicts they will find solace and become very prosperous.
