副主編的話: Deputy Editor in Chief’s Word 透過這本書,你可以認識這群生活在馬來西亞柔佛新山城市周邊的實裡達人,他們是一群靠海為生的原住民,祖上從新加坡搬遷來到柔佛南部沿岸,他們不是馬來民族,他們有自己的語言和習俗。生性淳樸的他們沒有以文字記錄歷史的習慣,所有的習俗都靠家中教育傳承下來。 文化紀錄的意義在於留給這個世界一些獨一無二的印記,對於實裡達人來說,文化或許並不是他們生活中最需要去關注的部分,但期望這本書能讓馬來西亞人都可以意識到,原住民也是馬來西亞多元文化的一部分。 This book will introduce you to the Seletarians living around the cities in Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia. People from this aboriginal tribe, whose ancestors moved to the Southern Johor seasides from Singapore, spend their lifetime on the sea. They are not Malay as they have their own language and culture. They live as easily as they can until they do not have their history on record; every bit of custom is taught and passed down to future generations at home. Documented culture aims to leave exceptional marks on this world. Culture might not be the most significant part for the Seletarians, but Malaysians need to be aware that the indigenous people are also a part of the multicultural Malaysia – which becomes our wish upon the book release.
