The SDGs are considered a roadmap for achieving sustainable development by 2030. However, for the second year in a row, the world is no longer making progress on the SDGs. Bangladesh has been encountering challenges in implementing the SDGs. The major challenges specifically remain with SDG 3, 6, 11, 14, 15, 16 and 17. The COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine have made the SDG targets tougher for this country. Multiple crises have invoked that the government must be introspective and reprioritise the investment portfolios for the SDGs. Pertaining to these concerns, the book draws major policy efforts and commitments regarding the SDGs, beyond its financing mechanisms. To realize SDGs, the Prime Minister's deep commitment is praiseworthy; however, radical changes in leading, visioning and acting at the different governance levels are crucial. Topical cross-cutting issues, such as halting biodiversity loss and harnessing climate-smart technologies, are elaborately presented. The bottom line is that rethinking economic growth, rethinking development, and rethinking governance is pivotal to achieving the SDGs in these difficult times.
