Every human society has its own procedure of governance, a balanced relationship/contract between the rulers and the ruled; it is a mechanism which ensures that social cohesion is forged and translated into progressive development. If, and when this procedure and/or mechanism is trampled upon or put in disrepute by greed and treachery, the tragic reality can best be imagined. Indeed, it is this dislocation that ONCE UPON AN ELEPHANT dramatizes. The play chimes as an engaging piece of theatre, historical reality and socio-political metaphor, which touches on the Nigerian life and palpable vividness as a commentary on the seeming unending leadership/followership crisis of the African Continent.
