This chapter discusses the Islamic arguments for “social security as a human right”. It has three sections. The first section ‘The Foundations of Social Security in Islam’ explores five principles: The Principle of Liking One’s Kind, Fairness and Justice, The Abomination of Poverty, The Principle of Goodness (ihsan) and Charity (infaq), and The Principle of Brotherhood in Faith.
