The feeling of having no power over one’s history, no right to describe oneself, no capacity to determine one’s destiny, no influence over what is written, no identity to self-definition, and the presence of general misery and hopelessness set the rational central glue that puts the several pages and chapters of this book together. The author presents an antithesis of a community that has for quite long been misrepresented, disregarded, and betrayed by the emerging democratic dispensation. This work is born from the available sources about the Nubi people as they struggled to survive in the pre- and post-colonial Uganda.
