Focused on the emergence and practices of sub-national governance systems in Myanmar’s ethnic nationality areas, this monograph is a detailed look into how “a new federal Burma is emerging, from the bottom up.” These administrative bodies offer a new model for dealing with the multitude of challenges faced by the people of Myanmar, with climate change perhaps the most existential threat of them all.
