We analysed 72 in-depth interviews to examine experiences of household socioeconomic vulnerability during the pandemic and the subsequent economic crisis. We find that the pandemic had a significant negative socioeconomic impact on many respondents amidst loss of employment, livelihoods, and incomes, collapse of spatial outlines, radical changes to lifestyles, and resultant psychosocial stress due to pandemic prevention measures, disruptions to children's education, and enduring economic uncertainties. The economic crisis had more intense and widespread adverse effects among the respondents due to the sharp erosion of the real value of money.
