Interventions features more than 30 published writings by Dr. Dayan Jayatilleka, one of Sri Lanka’s leading public intellectuals, a political scientist, former activist, academic and ambassador who is recognized for his independent-mindedness and speaking “truth to power” regardless of personal and career consequences. The essays have been carefully selected by the editors from a number of publications, both local and international which they felt would benefit from being assembled into a book for the lessons they impart as original insights and analyses of an enduring nature. It is also a distillation of the author’s life and career, his abiding interests and interventions in political affairs and discussions.
